Glamping is a combination of the words “glamourous” and “camping.” Based on this definition, it suggests a more high-end type of camping and not the one where you throw yourself against the great outdoors and its elements.
However, glamping isn’t also just getting an expensive hotel room set in the outdoors and having a bonfire every night. Glamping also incorporates a lot of elements from camping. If you have never tried glamping before, below are some tips to follow.
1. Enjoy the Outdoors
Just as we mentioned above, glamping is still camping. This means that you still have to embrace the outdoors, while doing so fabulously. There are many activities you can do that still embody traditional camping, like fishing, swimming, grilling food, having a bonfire, and doing a mini-concert.
In the meantime, for a more glamour aspect, you can do things like yoga, some sports, or even a silent disco. As long as you all do this outdoors, you’re already living out the glamping lifestyle.
2. Be Prepared
Sure, you are not necessarily going away to a very isolated place away from civilisation (or you might be? Depends on your choice of location), but you have to remember that you need to be prepared for a place where there might not be any signal or internet connection.
Bring different activities that you can enjoy such as cards, board games, books, and even instruments. Make sure to also carry a first-aid kit with you and some cash both for emergency and in case local markets only accept cash.
3. Do Your Research
Before heading out on your trip, make sure to research your glamping site well. Try to see what activities they have in the area. By doing your research, you get to plan ahead of time about what things you can do. This way you won’t be bored when you reach your destination.
Another thing to do is to check the weather. Try to see the forecast for that day and prepare yourself for it. If it’s too hot, activities like trekking may not be ideal. On the other hand, windy days would be fun to have a little picnic with your snacks.
4. Have Fun
Don’t stress out too much about your glamping trip. The most important thing is to have fun. Do whatever activities you can, but also take some of this time to relax. We don’t recommend that you stay inside your accommodation the entire trip because it defeats the purpose of glamping. However, taking a day or an afternoon off to spend indoors and just taking naps would be great for you.
5. Stay Safe
While most glamping locations and sites are equipped with modern conveniences and are not too far away from civilisation, this does not mean you are safe. Make sure to let people know where you are going and to try to keep family members or friends updated. Also be aware of any local emergency numbers and sites like hospitals and clinics within the vicinity.
Stay safe during your trip, and do not get too carried away. Avoid participating in too risky activities, especially if the weather does not permit.
Glamping is not just a high-end version of camping. Sure, it is not as traditional and makes camping a little more convenient, but it still is about enjoying the great outdoors. Be sure to follow our tips on your next glamping trip.
